Escrow Accounts
An escrow account, also referred to in some states as an impound account or reserve account, is a special fund that protects both you and HomEq by assuring that essential payments will be made on time. These include:
- Real estate taxes paid to tax authorities
- Hazard and other insurance such as mortgage insurance
After you payoff your mortgage, any balance left in your escrow account will be refunded to you approximately thirty calendar days after the payoff is received.
If your regularly scheduled account payment does not include funds allocated to an escrow account for property tax payments, you must submit payments directly to your taxing authority. If, however, your taxes are included in your escrow account, you may receive a tax bill for your records from the taxing authority.
Establishing an Escrow Account
To establish an escrow account for the payment of property taxes and/or hazard insurance, please read the Escrow Acknowledgment Letter
then print and complete the Voluntary Escrow Account Set Up Acknowledgement form and send it with a copy of your most recently paid tax bill and/or insurance policy to:

Delinquent Bills
We can help you determine why your tax and/or insurance bill has become delinquent. For tax inquiries, please call our Tax Department at (866) 245-7110 or you may fax your request to (919) 319-5695. If you receive a tax bill within 15 days of the date the bill would be delinquent, we recommend you fax the bill to HomEq Servicing at (919) 319-5695.
Please note that if your taxes are payable to Cook County, Illinois, a faxed copy cannot be accepted. You must mail the original bill to HomEq Servicing at the following address .
